Immediate permanent role - Band 7 - Flexible working arrangementsSenior role working on various municipal strategic land use projectsSituated within the western growth corridor of Victoria.Aspect Personnel are sourcing an experienced Strategic Planner to work at one of their municipal clients located west Victoria on a permanent basis. This is a newly created position and will be positioned within its Strategic and Sustainable Development department. This Band 7 Senior Strategic Planner role will complement council's current team and assist in delivering a variety of municipal land use projects.

Reporting directly to the Manager Strategic and Sustainable Development, your responsibility will be to take a lead role in project managing the delivery of an extensive portfolio of strategic land use projects whilst achieving efficient and sustainable development outcomes for the municipality. You will develop, implement and also revolutionise council's planning scheme to support growth within the area with a strong emphasis on protecting council's environmental assets.

You can expect to work on projects relating to strategic land use planning, social planning, heritage planning, structure plans, transportation and economic assessments, just to name a few. Therefore, your local knowledge and experience will be fully utilised and developed whilst attending to these issues/projects.

The successful candidate will have:
A tertiary qualification in Town Planning and circa 6 to 8 years' experience working in a similar role ideally within the local market.Extensive knowledge and proven success in project managing and coordinating the development of council projects dealing with strategic land use and social planning issues.The ability to manage several projects which include multi-disciplinary teams, at one time whilst delivering a highly level of customer service. The confidence in representing council at various forums as directed.The capability to work independently and within a small specialist team.A track record in using current planning software including GIS applications, MapInfo and Microsoft Office packages.In return for your services, you will be offered a healthy salary package, flexible work hours and the opportunity to work within a stable and experienced team of planners.

Due to a recent restructure and the department also moving office location closer to Melbourne, this unit is actively searching for a Strategic Planner who is able to hit the ground running and bring enthusiasm, energy and a wealth of knowledge and experience within the local market.

As a Principal Strategic Planner you will report directly to the Coordinator Strategic Projects and be responsible for developing, monitoring & reviewing strategic policies, plans & strategies.  You will also be responsible for leading projects, collecting & analysing planning data, writing reports, and managing planning scheme amendments. 

This is a significant role within its planning department and for the right candidate will challenge and fully utilise their skills and experiences. They will see various projects from conception right through to implementation.  
Your ability to manage various stakeholders in a professional and compassionate way will be the key to your success and respect within the municipality. 

As the ideal candidate you will have:
• A tertiary qualification in Planning, or relevant experience/qualifications
• Circa 5 to 8 years' experience as a Strategic Planner, within the local market.
• Previous experience in preparing and implementing strategic planning / town planning policies, plans and guidelines.
• A solid knowledge of Victoria Planning Provisions and state, regional & local planning policies and acts. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
