As a manager you are responsible for the smooth running of the business of the company. You know that this requires the effort of every person who brings back to you.
When an employee has brought a great project in on time and on budget, you can express your gratitude so personal that shows appreciation and understanding.
We recommend that you provide a compliment that will motivate him/her, as well as to thank them for the work they have already achieved.
Here's how to make compliments to reach their hearts, not just the head, to give a positive statement that will make them feel that really understand and care.
There are three parts of a successful compliment, namely: the reason, the feeling and the result. Put together these parts will send a message to your employee who will raise their spirits and send their ego flight!
THE REASON
To give a compliment success you need to identify what he did the other person is encouraged. Because he wants to give a compliment? What did employee to justify?
It is necessary to identify the reason why you want to give them a compliment, so that the employee can understand why you are giving.
Describe the project they were working on. Do not use only a single sentence-provide at least three sentences to describe your employee's involvement with the project.
When you see the performance of outstanding work there is no reason to provide a compliment that imparts meaning, so get in as much details as possible about the project itself.
THE FEELING
How you felt when your employee completed the project and produced a result that was much higher than expected?
When a compliment is given that seems to have no just cause, it seems to be superficial. Terms like "Wow" or "fantastic" is suitable to be used for strong baseball or basketball games and expressions are not enough to touch the heart of an employee.
You will need to put your feelings into words – and for some of us, this may be close to impossible. Here are a few emotional words that can be used to help describe how may be feeling: excited, surprised, grateful happy, pleasant, relaxing, peaceful, enthusiastic, tickled pink, joyous, jubilant, ecstatic, happy, grateful, relieved, happy, happy.
Reveal your feelings or emotions to the employee produces communication at an emotional level, bypassing the intellect. This is a deeper level of communication that reaches to the heart, not just the head.
As most of employment relationships are driven by location (e.g. manager dependent), you can find this part of the message more difficult to deliver expected. However, this is where you are able to produce the greatest gains in the manager-employee relationships.
THE RESULT
In order to create a compliment that reaches the heart, you must be able to tell an employee as their actions helped the business. Be factual on this as possible. You will need to provide some visible figures that represent the percentages obtained as a result of their work.
For example, has saved the company or eliminate expenses? The project has unexpected problems that were resolved by the employee? Because they are different things because of their work?
This is part three of the message and provides a significant basis for the allocation of your employees deserve a compliment.
PUT IT ALL TOGETHER
Here's the formula for the production of a great compliment that touches the heart:
REASON FEELING RESULT = GREAT COMPLIMENT
With a little practice this formula gives you the chance to land a significant compliment in the heart of an employee who says strong enough, "well done!"
